 Story of Sarala
Sarala is a widow who lived in the fringes of society whom cares about. Her husband had died of cancer. She had four children. Due to lack of nutrition her eldest son died. She worked as a daily laborer in the fields until she was unable to due to ill health. She and her three children got by somehow with the help of others. The Manav Vikas team went to that particular village for a survey of TB and met this lady at home. The particular issue was brought into the notice of the MVSS core team. The core team tried to find some aid for this poor widow. The team came to a consensus that MVSS would provide a pair of goats to her for rearing. Necessary training goat rearing was also provided. The goats were insured by the institution and the time to time monitoring was done. Though initially she had some problems in rearing but now she has become a model farmer in her village. She stared selling milk, manure as well as kid goats to others. At present she earns about Rs. 3000 per month and gets by.
