Nutrition support for HIV infected/affected children
The HIV/AIDS infected/affected children are taking ART treatment in a hospital in Madurai district. ART treatments are heavy Dose treatment. The target children have to take Vitamin and Protein rich nutrition food. But the their families are not able to provide Vitamin and Protein rich nutrition food because of poverty. P.Kalidass is a HIV/AIDS infected child. He is studying in 7th standard. His father died due to HIV/AIDS infection. His mother is also a HIV/AIDS infected patient. His family income is 1800/- per month. His mother is the only bread winner of the family. Her mother is not able to go for work due to HIV/AIDS infection. CD4 count was very low and so the children health condition is very weak. Grace Peter Charitable Trust is providing dry dates fruits, cashew nuts, Horlicks and Pulses. These nutrition foods have rich vitamins and protein. They come and collect the items from our office or a common place nearer to their location. The CD4 count of the HIV/AIDS infected children have increased considerably. Their health conditions have also increased. These children are going to School regularly.
