Mission/Vision
"As a part of Isha’s social outreach programs, Isha Vidhya rural schools have been started in villages (under the umbrella of Isha Education, established in 2005) to provide high quality school education to underprivileged rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. Isha Vidhya aims to provide high quality school education to rural children who cannot otherwise afford it. Isha Vidhya schools • take education beyond literacy and rudimentary skills • strive to make children fluent in English and adept in computer skills • adopt a nurturing approach to education, helping children realize their full potential • actively promote education of female children • increase educational awareness in rural communities • preserve village identities and culture. • equip rural youth with skills to rise above the ‘hopeless’ situation they often find themselves in, empowering them to pursue higher studies or gainful employment "

Background
Isha Vidhya provides a scalable approach to providing quality education within the limitations present in underdeveloped, rural communities.  Story of Baranidharan
Baranitharan was admitted to our school with educational scholarship. He hails from a very poor family where his father was a daily wage labourer and two more children to look after. Unfortunately at the beginning of this academic year, his father had a massive heart attack and died at a very young age. The mother could not go for any job as the youngest child was 3 months old. She became sick owing to the sorrowful situation and this poor boy was forced to be at home to look after his siblings. His education was also a question mark. We came to know about the plight of the family and asked his mother to come to school and we promise her that all the help would be given so that the child studies will not be affected. His sister will also be admitted in our school without paying any fees. Now this boy also given full education scholarship. It means the mother need not pay any money for school, transport, meal etc.. Now both the children are coming to our school and studying well also. Baranitharan is in 2nd grade . Their mother told this with tears in her eyes, I will always be grateful to Isha Vidhya and Sadhguru. When everyone including my relatives neglected me, only Isha Vidhya cared for me and my children and their future is safe at their hands but for Isha Vidhya my children would not got good education and nutritious meal and bright future also. Till my death I won't forget Isha Vidhya.

Noon meals in Isha Vidhya matriculation schools.
Bairavi's father is working as a daily wage labourer. But he doesn't get work on regular basis due to his health problems. He has 2 daughter and one son. The house they live is in a very bad condition with a leaky roof and unhygienic surroundings. Even giving one meal per day is distant dream for them. We convinced the parents to admit their kids in our school after promising scholarship for all their three kids. When a medical camp was conducted in the school first year in Feb 2010, the doctor diagnosed Bairavi as under-nourished and anemic.. Next year, in June 2010, we started the noon meal scheme and we gave the free food for them. Nutritious noon meal with proteins, vegetables and salt fortified with 11 micronutrients, were introduced at highly subsidised rates (25% of cost). The meals are unlimited and menu is changed every day, with no repetition for 2 weeks. The meal is thus nutritious as well as tasty. This year we conducted the medical camp again and the doctors said the girl’s weight is normal and she is no longer anemic. Her parents feel very happy and thanked the school for helping them
