Mission/Vision
Towards empowerment of the less privileged, oppressed and deprived women and children, youth, artisans, landless, unorganized and migrant labourers, and the farming community through a process of organization and participation.

Background
We came into existence with the hard work of like minded individuals headed by Mr. Joseph Xavier and Mrs. Amala Nayagi who had passion to render services to the under privileged, oppressed, women, children and disabled in the most backward areas of Ponnamaravathi Taluk, Pudukottai District. It is a charitable, non-profit, non-political, non-communal organization, committed to the objectives of Annai Charitable and Educational Trust.

Mr. Joseph Xavier is the Founder of this Trust. He has completed his Diploma in Civil Engineering and is a Civil Contractor by profession. He has put all his earnings to promote Annai Charitable and Educational Trust to mould the young ones as the modern architects since he believes in the statement of Steven Covey that, "Empowerment is the fire ignited within the person that unleashes their talents, ingenuity, and creativity to do whatever is necessary with the principles agreed upon to accomplish common values, vision and mission".

Happy moment of a poor child
Sethupathy is studying in Grade 8. His father Balan is a coolie by profession and is earning Rs. 1,500/- per month. His mother Muthulakshmi is suffering of anemia. Sethupathy has an elder brother who is mentally retarded. The family is living in Melaisivapuri, Ponnamaravathi Taluk, Pudukottai District. Balan was unable to look after his ailing wife and the mentally retarded child. At this stage, Sethupathy was about to become dropout from the school as he had to support the family. Annai Charitable & Educational Trust came to sense the problem of Sethupathy during a counseling session at the school and consequently visited the family to assess the situation. Accordingly the Trust granted him free education and supplied the required educational materials free of cost from our Trust Funds. Sethupathy is very happy over the assistance and is now happily continuing his study at our St. Joseph Matriculation School. He performs well in his class tests and terminal examinations. He has an ambition to become an Engineer and look after his family. His father Balan is now relieved of the trouble of educating a child.

Ensured state of self worth and belongingness
Uma hails from Melaisivapuri Village. She has three children -one twins – boy and a girl and another girl. Divya I std, Ramki & Lakshmi LKG. Her husband died of lung cancer last year. She has an aged mother. Uma goes to coolie work and is finding it hard to look after her aged mother and the children. She was unable to meet the recurring expenditure of the family with her poor income. She didn’t even have enough clothing for herself since she had to sacrifice herself for the sake her children and aged mother. Annai Charitable & Educational Trust shortlisted her name for distribution of sarees and blouses. Accordingly she was given two sarees and two blouses in order to help her have enough clothing. Uma feels happy over the cloth and is going to coolie work with decent clothing. Whatever money she gets, she could now spend for her children and her aged mother without worrying for herself. She conveys her thanks for the timely assistance.

 An aspiring Priyalakshmi
Priyalakshmi is studying in Grade 9 in our St. Joseph Matriculation School, Venthanpatti. Her father Nallathambi passed away 10 years back. Her mother Selvi was working as a daily wage labourer. Priyalakshmi has an elder brother by name Kanagavel studying in Grade 11. After the husband’s demise, the mother & children were under the care of grandfather. The family could not support the education of the children along with the other day to day expenses. At this stage Selvi managed to approach our Trust for help through her neighbours. Our volunteers and trustees looked into her situation and decided to help the children. So we admitted both the children in our school and educated them both through scholarship programme for the past 4 years. Priyalakshmi is a bright student and therefore the Trust provides for her education under scholarship programme. Priyalaskshmi performs well in her studies and puts forward in all the extra-curricular activities. She is regular in her attendance. She aspires to become a software engineer and is good at core subjects. The mother Selvi is relieved to see that her children are getting a good education and is now happy that the children are coming up in their lives.
