 When learning became fun!
Pooja was a student of 6th grade. As she was not receiving any support or guidance from home, she could not perform to the fullest. As a result she lagged behind in her studies and was a disinterested child. After learning of Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan study centre, Pooja started coming here regularly. She was introduced to different techniques of learning such as games, puzzles etc. and started enjoying studies. Attending the study centre helped her at studies, through reading & writing skills, mathematical games, science experiments and personality development programs which were conducted at the centre Today, Pooja is in 7th grade. She continues to attend the centre regularly and actively participates in all the programs. She has improved at her studies and has developed leadership qualities. Today she is a positive and an independent girl.

Savani: A new world of speech
Shweta, mother of Savani says: Savani is three years old girl. She was able to speak very few small words like Kaka, Kaku, Baba, Papa, Aai etc. She could not speak words starting La, Ra, Va etc. Savani started visiting BNP twice a week. Within three months there was remarkably positive improvement in her speaking abilities. BNP Therapists helped and guided her through sessions. Now Savani can utter her own name, and her parents names. Teachers and her parents are confident that Savani will pick up speed and improve. The similar case is of Manali. She is 12 years old. Her parents are also deaf and dumb. So there is no guidance from them. When she came to BNP she could not speak up a single word. In BNP Centre teachers took efforts for her through different speech correction methods such as TVA (Tactual, Visual and Audio) Now she can speak many simple words useful for day to day life. Her writing, reading and lip reading has improved

 Monika Randive
Monika Randive says: I am from farming family with a very meager and irregular income. It was really impossible for a blind girl like me to in city like Pune by myself. Mrs. Meera Badave from Niwant Andh Muktalay suggested that I should stay at the BNP hostel. I approached the hostel authorities. They were very kind and agreed to provide accommodation at a concessional rate. I am staying here for last year and a half. I learnt many things here like cleanliness, following hostel rules and cooperation. I have become more confident. I take part in all the activities organized. I heard from my old friends that it is safe and secure here, which is very true. My parents are also relieved. Now I can concentrate on my studies and aspire to become independent person.

 Shravani
Shravani lives in a joint family with her grandparents, parents and one brother. Her father has business of furniture making and mother is working in a mess. Her younger brother is studying in 9th std. Shravani got admission for B.Tech in a private college o her merit. She is very ambitious to complete her education and get job. As her father is in business the income is not regular and he has more responsibilities. It was difficult for him to pay the higher fees for engineering college in private college. BNP gave her scholarship of Rs.11,000/-. BNP’s financial support helped her to pay part of her fees Shravani’s tension was relieved. She could concentrate properly on her studies. She got good marks i.e. 8.65 pointers in 1st and 9.38 pointers in 2nd semester. Now she has taken admission for second year. Her confidence is increased. She got inspired by the social work done by BNP. She participated in some program for students as volunteers. After completing the education and getting job she has expressed the wish to help some other needy students financially.
