Transforming lives by recognising potentials and empowering individuals and communities for a better Living.
EM was started by a group of like-minded professionals in May 2007, who came together to serve the society in whichever way possible. The first opportunity came with training assignment for a research project with local NGO in Delhi. Motivated by the positive outcome of the efforts the group registered themselves as a society.
Ms. Richa Mohan has varied experience in the social sector in the field of counselling and guidance, rehabilitation, health education, communication, capacity building and training, documentation, implementation of development projects. She has conducted research on children and youth with Hemophilia, HIV/AIDs etc. She is associated with the Hemophilia and Disability sector for 12 years. She is Chair of the Psycho-social Committee of the World Federation of Hemophilia, Canada. Her belief is:Every individual has the potential in them. It only needs to be recognised, nurtured and encouraged.

 From Darkness to Light
Fareen, 11 yrs has 4 brothers and 2 sisters. From the very beginning Fareen showed interest in the studies but had no means to study. At a very young age Fareen lost her parents. Her mother died of tuberculosis and her father once left home for work and never returned. The grandparents divided the children among themselves and she came to live with her maternal grandmother with her 12 yr old brother. Empowering Minds school teacher noticed the interest of the child and admitted her to our school. At first she was reluctant and her grandmother was also apprehensive in sending her. But when we gave her uniform and books she was very happy. Her grandmother was also counselled to send Fareen as well as her brother to school daily. Fareen is regularly coming to school. But her brother comes as and when he feels like. She is a bright student, passed with 95% marks and stood 2nd in her Grade. She takes part in the co-curricular activities and participates in the school activities. Her grandmother is very grateful for finding a support for her educational needs.
 Health is Wealth
Sonu studies in Grade 4. She has 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her father was an alcohol addict and after drinking he used to abuse his wife and the entire family. Because of her husband’s behaviour Sonu’s mother left him and earned to raise the children which are very difficult for her in the meagre salary. The organisation not only admitted Sonu and her sister in the school but motivated them to attend the school regularly. Counselling sessions were given to her stressed mother. Sonu and her sister both her provided nutrition as well as the health check- ups on a regular basis. They were given books, stationeries and other utilities. Sonu is a bright and serious student. Studies have changed her personality. She comes to school regularly and shares her problems with the teachers who help her solving it. Her teeth were not good and when the dentist from EM gave her tips for the upkeep, she is keeping them good.
 Meena the Tailor
Meena is a young mother with 2 children. She lives with her husband but he is a drunkard. Whatever, he earns is spent on alchohol. It was getting difficult for Meena to run her household. Meena got enrolled in the six months diploma course at the centre for Stiching and tailoring for Girls and women. She learned the skills for six month and gave her examination which she passed in A grade. Now she stiches clothes at her house and earn a 100-150 a day. She put her skill to use by stiching other people clothes at the neighbourhood. She is earning around Rs. 3000/- a month. With this money she is now able to send her elder child to school. She does not have to depend on her husband for money and other things. She is very happy now and comes to the centre to participate in programs and to update her knowledge.
 Back to School
The children were out of school. They were not going to any school due to frequent migration, parents were not able to afford the fees of the children. The children are coming to the Education centre and have formal schooling up to primary. They are then marginalized with the nearby Govt. school and regular follow up is being done. The school is running properly and children are doing well. Their interest levels have improved and come to school daily.
