Dana pursuing her dream of becoming a Teacher
Dana is in Grade 9 now and topped her class in Grade 8. However, her family decided to stop her education because they were poor and could not afford to pay for both her and her brother. As per the trend in the villages, they wanted to educate at least her brother and decided to stop her education. Dana wanted to study further and to achieve her aim of becoming a teacher. There was no way out for her. When SHG women briefed us on her situation, we immediately did a verification check and included her in our programme. We enrolled her in Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School; we paid her school fee, bought 2 sets of uniform and took care of other bursary needs. Dana was really happy and she studied well. She has secured the top rank in the Final Board exam and we hope that we would be able to help her in pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher.

Provide Nutritional Support for a HIV affected/infected Children
Kavya, aged 10, and have two siblings. Both her parents Jeyalakshmi & Durairaj were infected by HIV/AIDS and Jeyalakshmi died 8 years ago due to infection. Durairaj and his children were living along with Jeyalakshmi sister (Saroja), Saroja is mother of two children and she is also infected by HIV/AIDS. As they were daily wage labourers, the income drawn by them was insufficient to feed & educate their children. Due to their poverty, the children were deprived of healthy and nutritious food. Out of the five, we supported one child with the little donation we received during the year. Kavya aunt is one of the members of our Red Ribbon Club. On her appeal, and considering their family situation, Kavya was enrolled in our Children home. After joining SPPD, she was promised food, school supply, uniform and accommodation. She goes to a nearby govt. school. She studies well and is very happy and confident that she will secure a good future. Thus, SPPD Children home has helped an HIV infected family and secured one of their kids with good education and future.

 Opportunity for Dhanam
Dhanam is studying Grade 5 in the Government Middle School, Nachampatty. Her parents are not living together. She is staying with her mother. Her mother is a daily wage labourer. She is the only daughter to her parents. Her family is in a very poor situation. They do not have electricity at home. She is an average student. She had difficulties in her studies. Though she spends most of her time in studying, she is not able to score good marks. Due to the absence of electricity in their house, her homework was usually incomplete. She was referred by one of our SHG members, and considering her educational level, we enrolled her in the Evening Study Center. She is a regular student to the center. Now she has learnt the method of learning. Her handwriting has also improved. All the lessons are well explained to her. She is a regular student to the center. Her handwriting has also improved. All the lessons are well explained to her. Due to repeated tests conducted in the center, she is able to study her lessons. SPPD provided her family with a solar light through Mrs. Alice Doolan. Now she studies even during the night, completes all her homework and has developed an interest in learning all her lessons daily.
