Background
Shree Navchetan Andhjan Mandal was set up in 1976 to provide rehabilitation services to blind old age persons. The organisation has expanded over the years to provide an array of services to disabled people from poor families.

Shri LaljibhaiMepabhai Prajapati lost his eyesight in 1969 due to a problem in the optic nerve. At that time he was 15 years old and in the final year of secondary school. He was devastated by the incident and gave up hope of living a purposeful life. It took him three years to come to terms with his blindness and gain control of himself. He was determined to win over his blindness and lead life like a normal person. He passed S.S.C exam as external student, did B.A. in Hindi and passed SangeetVisarad. He took industrial training at Blind Mens Association in Ahmedabad. He was a brilliant student and active in extra curricular activities during his sighted days. He continued this trend even after turned blindness. Being blind himself, he realized the difficulties faced by the blind in Kutch. He decided to establish Shree Navchetan Andhjan Mandal, in 1976 at Bhachau to alleviate difficulties faced by them. He is the guiding force behind its welfare activities.

 Empowerment of people with disability
We try to serve a verity of food to children so that they get a balance diet. So some days specially on holidays or special occasions we include sweets and or starter. In this way they remain healthy and have improved immunity. We have observed that children when they are admitted to this organization are meal nourished. So we try to improve their heath through improved nutrition. We have two health check ups in one year. We have observed that over all health of the children is improved and they miss less school days.
