Imagine a group of 7th to 9th graders discussing and actively questioning the international and national policies.
Teach for India Delhi MUN envisions to create leaders for tomorrow by providing a platform to the kids where they will be coming together to discuss global issues and work towards their possible solutions. In the process they are expected to develop researching, critical thinking and public speaking skills with the knowledge of their own representative countries policies and the global environment. This will inculcate a solution oriented approach among the kids where they are able to articulate logical and rational arguments and derive action steps for the issues they face.
"I want to be a policy maker and want to change article 377, LGBT rights" - Laiba, a 9th grade student from Government Girls School, Brahmpuri
Started in 2015, impacting 8 schools (224 kids) in its first year,16 schools and 1000 kids in its 2nd year, we aim to reach 37 classrooms impacting around 1800 kids. A growth of around 800%
The project aims at providing the method of role-play and insight into the dynamics of another country and its people in order to
build Empathy and Global Awareness in students. Last year our young delegates displayed
Leadership and Collaborative qualities with confident speeches and a well drafted set of resolutions. Substantive sessions on
Global Warming, Combating Poverty, Rights of Women and Children have made the
students believe that they are the local stakeholders in civic issues and can contextualize their learning in Social Sciences with real life problems.
The project will achieve its aim through implementation of a 16 hours training module on the modus operandi of MUN in 37 TFI classrooms, conducting mock MUNs and organisining a two-day Final Conference where 740 kids will be coming together to discuss sensitive global issues and work towards their possible solutions.
