“No mother, infant or child in India should die for want of care.” Our three projects, HERO, mMitra and Arogya Sakhi Home Based Care are conceptualized under this backdrop to reduce mortality and morbidity of mothers, children and neonates.

HERO (Helpline for Emergency Response Operations) will provide real-time information regarding the availability of ICU beds and blood in the hospitals and blood banks of Mumbai and Pune 24 x 7 through a website, phone number, sms number and mobile app.

mMitra will send timed (twice a week) and targeted mobile phone voice messages in the local dialect providing information regarding care to be taken from first month of pregnancy until the fifth year of child’s life, directly to the phones of the enrolled women. In rural India, where we have community partners, once a month animations will be shown to the pregnant women to reinforce the information given through the voice messages! Since January 2013, mMitra is being implemented in 250 villages in rural Osmanabad, Washim and Solapur. From this month, 5000 women attending the antenatal clinic of Sion hospital in Mumbai will get the mMitra service as a part of their antenatal care!! A donation of Rs 500/- will help us send messages to one woman through her pregnancy and childhood.

Arogya Sakhi Home Based Care project creates health entrepreneurs! We are training them to provide comprehensive home based antenatal and postnatal care including diagnostic investigations (such as testing of haemoglobin, blood pressure, blood sugar, abdominal examination, foetal heart rate monitoring) and prompt referrals in case of high risk factors. 83 Arogya Sakhis have been trained in Osmanabad, Solapur and Washim. In three years, 250 health entrepreneurs will be created, who will provide affordable health care to their village for a nominal fee and in the process, provide for their families too!! Donate Rs 10,000 to fund the medical kit of one health entrepreneur.

As a small organization, that is steadily expanding, we are continually working to advance our projects and reach out to as many beneficiaries as possible. While we are beginning in Maharashtra, we are hoping to expand our programs to states across India. We can only do so with your help! Please support our organization so that we can help fill gaps in health care access. Give India will process every donation and provide you with a receipt for the same. Thank you for visiting ARMMAN's iGive page and supporting our cause.
