Hi, we are 3 Teach for India Fellows mentoring 120+ Grade 6 and 7 girls in a Delhi Government School!
When we think back to our school days, instantly happy images of large grounds, vibrant classrooms, experiments in science labs, playing sports and frequent picnics come to mind. We feel privileged to have received a holistic education which has shaped us into strong and independent individuals.

We joined the fellowship to provide our kids with the same access and exposure. Some of the kids in our class have a monthly family income of less than INR 4000 and live in one-room houses in low income communities, yet they come to school daily to learn and grow. In just 4 months of teaching them, we realised that while our kids have unlimited zeal and incredible potential, they lack the resources to enable them to reach it. We have moved away from the industrial revolution to the digital age, yet most of our kids haven't heard of a projector and do not have access to internet facilities.

We wish to raise funds for infrastructure development, arranging educational and recreational tours and buying resources such as stationery, sports equipment, learning material and books. We operate a community centre near the school for remedial learning and workshops; some amount would go towards running it. All our expenses with the donated money can be viewed here. We will regularly update this document, so you can keep track of our projects. Our kids and we are extremely grateful for every donation made here and no amount is too small. These projects will also benefit the community around by making our school a symbol of progress through quality education.

The donations are eligible for tax deduction u/s 80G of the IT Act. If you'd like to meet the kids or donate in non-monetary ways, feel free to shoot us an email at akriti.r2017@teachforindia.org or aakriti.thapar2016@teachforindia.org
