Meet Prem,
Prem stays with his old grandmother in Indiranagar, Bangalore. Yes! the same place where most of us spend our weekends partying and enjoying. Indiranagar the place where bright lights and packed pubs and restarunt grab your attention instantly, Prem and his grandmother own a house here.
You might be thinking why you should help someone who owns a house in Indiranagar, they are probaly rich then most of us reading this article, but read till end and before you conclude.
Prem who is roughly 7 years old who stays with his old grandmother in the posh lanes of indiranagar 13th main where you would find BMW's Porsche's and Merc's parked outside the curb for the rain and dust to test their metal, because people are so rich here they dont care.
same is the case with Prem who is left on the road by his mother and father to test what he is made up of. his parents left him with his granny when whe was 1 year old and got married to other people and parted their ways, they never came back to see where he is or what he is doing in life but that's another story for another day.
Present day, heavy rains flodded the streets of bangalore giving relief to many of us from the blazing heat this year. but that is not the case with prem and his grandmother who works 14 hours a day to earn 40-100 rupees a day, washing vessels, cleaning clothes, making flower garlands and anything that she can think of or have patience to do.
at an age of 60 plus where you need help to getup and walk, she takes care of this young child left behind by his ungrateful parents just for the simple reason that she loves him more than anything in this world and wants him to growup and become a good man.
Rain has flodded their 8X10 kuccha house cloapsing the makeshift door, the mud floor was so wet she has put her sarees to soak the water stagnant for days, they dont bother mouse running on their chest while sleeping nor do they bother absence of electricty or drinking water. because getting basic amenities is not a choice for them.
His grandmother has broke her foot yesterday on her way back from KR market, menawhile she was away Prem was beaten black and blue by local kids which happens very often since he has no one who can pitch on his behalf.
looking at their situation we visited their house since we live nearby, we were greeted with so much love and affection not that we came to help, but to see those 5 pet fishes which prem lives with in that dark dreaded room. Tears rolled down my eyes seeing the condition they are living in which is no way fit for a human being to stay. i could not get this thought out of my mind about what if something bad happens to his grandmother who is his only guardian in that tiny place which they call home. no one will come to their rescue, where will this small boy go?
I would genuinely beg to you to help as much as you can to support this child and his old grandmother.Least you can do is next time you come to party or have a meal at Indiranagar please do visit their house and talk to them. all they need is our support and care.
