The Laila Cyclone hit Prakasam district in AP badly on 18th of May 2010, causing heavy damage. 35 slums of Ongole town and 55 villages in prakasam district were submerged in water. The result of the horrible cyclone is thus: complete damage to 6,360 hectors of crop & 2220 hectares of horticulture, washing away off 260 boats, heavy damage to 420 boats & 1200 nets, death of 25 milch animals, 1500 hens & 540 goats, irreparable loss of 570 mt of fodder, complete damage to 2500 huts. Besides this, the poor families depending on daily wages lost the wages in addition to the loss to their houses/huts and belongings and provisions.
At this crucial hour every one of us are trying to support them with what ever we have. Please extend your generous support for those victims of cyclone. Please think of them and kindly help us to bring their life to normalcy.
