Hi,

Over a four day period between September 29th and October 4th, 2009, fifteen districts of North Karnataka were hit by the most severe flooding in the last 100 years. The unprecedented rainfall took 229 lives, killed nearly 8000 cattle, destroyed crops in over 22 lakh hectares of land, and rendered over 7 lakh people homeless. HOPE foundation with the help of partners from across the globe will be rebuilding nearly 90 homes in Jagir Venkatapura, Raichur. In addition, HOPE foundation will setup two multipurpose community centers to meet the medical needs of the community while providing its young men and women with job-oriented skills. A total of 150 homes need to be built. HOPE foundation has raised Rs 2 crores and seeks to raise Rs. 1 crore to help build the remaining 60 homes and meet operational expenses for the medical/vocational training unit, for a year.
