There are lakhs of homeless people in Delhi who contribute to Delhi’s life and development with their labour. Unfortunately, most of them cannot afford even basic medical care when unwell and their continued illness shoves them deeper into poverty.
To respond to this challenge, The India Foundation free medical clinic opened on 11 February 2008 and has so far treated over 42,000 patients in the last few years.
This clinic operates out of Lodhi Colony in New Delhi and is open six days a week in the evenings. It is served by three doctors and on an average, treats 45-50 patients a day. In addition, it also facilitates referrals to government hospitals when required.
The clinic runs on private contributions and runs without any overhead costs.
