With this project IDEA targets homeless children living alone or with families, on the street. It provides education, health care and nutritional support to children. It also seeks to reunite runaway children with their families.

This project ( Aasha Kiran) operates from temporary shelters near bus stands and  market places. These centres are child friendly and teach hygiene, social behaviours and basic literacy and even prepare them for regular school. To ensure that the health of the children improves; they receive medical treatments and supplementary nutrition. Adolescents also learn the dangers of tobacco and drugs and are made aware of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS through various awareness programmes.

Since 2002 , IDEA is active in Pune , making efforts to minimise dropout rate in schools and also identifies and enrols ’out of school’ children in school after preparing them through Non formal education (NFE) classes. Based on a survey of ‘street children’ we have recently undertaken the above project.  Please donate generously for our project, to enable us to help more children.
