| A group of women came together to work on the developmental aspects for empowerment of women and formed AWAG on 16th July 1983. |

| Ms Sara Baldiwala joined AWAG as an activist in 1985. Since then she has graduated to be invited as one of the trustees. The trusteess committee nominated her as the Secretary, which is the CEO of AWAG. |
