Success Story

Rishabh is a child with profound mental challenges belonging to a lower-middle class family. Rishabh is a child with profound mental challenges belonging to a lower-middle class family. He spent a substantial amount of his childhood isolated at home. His parents, who were still in denial about his condition, refused to send him to a school for children with special needs saying they knew it would not work and they could never afford it either.

The family was contacted by our awareness team and counselor, and was convinced to send Rishabh to Karuna Vihar School for regular sessions. A staff member sponsored the fees for his therapy. During his initial assessment, we discovered several of his problems were attributable to functional hearing loss. We could then develop appropriate strategies and goals for his development.

Now we see Rishabh as a happy child with a regular routine who is responding marvelously to the teaching methods adopted by the teachers. His parents now behold in front of them a happier, calmer, content child. We finally managed to change their opinion about schooling for children with special needs and got Rishabh the education he needed.
