Success Story

Doli, an 18 year old girl came with cough and thought it was minor cold.

Doli, an 18 year old girl came with cough and thought it was minor cold. But the cough lingered, worsened, and low fever developed. She slowly lost her appetite and often vomited after eating anything. Every night, the fever spiked and symptoms became painful. When the cough increased, it became more painful.

Priya, an Operation ASHA counselor, visited Doli at home. As Priya explained the details of TB treatment, transmission, and prevention, she left Doli with the understanding that TB was not fatal but is curable. Doli was directed to a nearby Operation ASHA Treatment Center. After 2 months, Doli was no longer in danger of infecting others and the treatment continued for 4 months more.
Fully recovered, sputum negative and feeling fine and fit, Doli was able to resume life as it was before. Appreciating the counselors work, she commented: Didi was very nice. Asha helped us at every step. Concluding her interview she added, Operation ASHA has cured me.
