Success Story

Sibaprasad Swain, aged 12 years, of Puri district was also affected by Cerebral palsy Sibaprasad Swain, aged 12 years, of Puri district was also affected by Cerebral palsy. Till 5 years of age he lied still in his bed. Though his parents took him to the local doctors there was no improvement in his condition. He was dependent on his parents for his daily chores. With the intervention of Community workers of Vikash he was provided residential care at Mukti Kiran.

Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy was given to him for about 3 months. Crutches, wheel chair, special boots and hand splint were arranged for him and he was continuously trained for their application.

With the application of speech therapy he is able to speak now. Regular application of physiotherapy and occupational therapy has made him able to stand and walk with crutches. He can also write. With the help of workers of Vikash he was admitted to a normal school. He is attending his classes regularly and is showing a great interest towards studies.
