Success Story

Umesh is a 10 year old boy who lives with his maternal uncle Umesh is a 10 year old boy who lives with his maternal uncle in Sabzi Mandi slum in Mayappuri. His parents Harikrishna Mahatav and mother Sunita Devi live in Bihar and earn a living as agricultural labour. Umesh augments the family income by picking up rags and scraps from the Industrial area. He had been suffering from skin rash and itching all over his body and had a sever cough and cold.

Umesh was brought to the health camp by a field worker at DISHA who had spotted him picking rags in the nearby area. The doctor examined his condition and prescribed medicines to be taken for a two week. The field workers contacted his uncle for following the schedule for medicines and check up in the camp to be held in the same area next time.

His health condition has improved very much and the smile has returned to his face. The rashes have gone and he is in good health. The information about good hygiene and health given to him in the camp has ensured that he m maintains personal hygiene and has a bath daily. Umesh and his uncle are thankful to DISHA for this timely intervention at their doorstep.
