Success Story

Ande Venkayamma, 35 years, a daily wage labourer, lives in Gopalpuram village in West Godavari district. Ande Venkayamma, 35 years, a daily wage labourer, lives in Gopalpuram village in West Godavari district. She got HIV through her husband Subbarao, a rickshaw puller 4 years ago. They have two kids, studying in Grades 4 & 7. Gradually their health condition was becoming poor and they found it difficult to work. Since Subbarao is too weak to go for work, Venkayamma cleans dishes and washes clothes to support the family. But that is not all enough to sustain the family. Due to lack of sufficient food, their children are malnoursiged affecting their health and education.

KRDSO visited this family and counselled them. KRDSO approached like minded people in the communities. Few pastors in the village came forward and extended their support to KRDSO to help the family needs. KRDSO provided rice, dal, cooking, vegetables and seasonal fruits, milk and medicine for the family. Apart from providing provision for this family, KRDSO regularly visits this family giving psychosocial support to the family members.

We noticed the improvement in their health condition. They are able to take 2 meals per day without depending upon any others. Children are going to school regularly and keeping well. This family is thanking to KRDSO & Pastors for their timely help.
