Success Story

Himmatnagar, a rapidly growing town of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat has huge disparities in income Himmatnagar, a rapidly growing town of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat has huge disparities in income and standard of living. SPRAT s Mahatma Gandhi CARAVAN centre has lit the torch of literacy there a few years ago. Area after area is being focused to eradicate illiteracy from the town. The students of this batch stay at Panpur area and remained by and large illiterate till an advanced age.

The CARAVAN Centre s accredited teacher of TALEEM Literacy programme, Ms Dipikaben Prajapati, taught this batch of over 20 students, vide Batch No. T01/TLG/134H. In the final examination all of them recorded attendance of above 70% and secured Grade or higher.

They can now read and write Gujarati, and perform basic mathematical calculations so as to be able to manage their lorries, conduct petty businesses and supervise their children s studies. These ladies feel particularly happy at being able to correspond with their daughters, handle money transactions and board the right bus without confusion.
