Success Story

Women and adolescent girls of village Nonai are educationally and socially backward. Women and adolescent girls of village Nonai are educationally and socially backward. They had received little education and did not have the basic understanding of reproductive health. None of the female members knows about the importance of menstrual hygiene and reproductive health. Their elders also did not practice menstrual hygiene and several of them suffered from genital tract infection and even few had to remove the infected uterus for their survival spending hard earned money.

LCVK identified the adolescent girls from the village Nonai and provided training to the adolescent girls on health and hygiene ,adolescent body changes/secondary sexual characters, safe sex conception, safe delivery practices, breast feeding ,spacing and contraception at different intervals.

The trained participants of Nonai village practice menstrual hygiene. Married couples practice safe sex so that they bear child after the age of 18 and can have spacing of 3 years between their children. All of them learnt the importance of breast feeding their children for their better immunity. Like Reeta Devi, all had learnt to practice safe sex, leads a healthy and hygienic life.
