Success Story

Families of deafblind children often face rejection and isolation from their communities as disability is still considered a social taboo. Families of deafblind children often face rejection and isolation from their communities as disability is still considered a social taboo. As a result of lack of proper information and awareness regarding deafblindness and available opportunities, family members of deafblind children are left without any support and facilities to cater to the special needs of their children.

Sense International (India) organised a training programme for parents of deafblind children in Raipur (Chhattisgarh)- 23-24th June, where they were trained how to deal with the challegnes they face while taking care of their deafblind children. The training acted as a platform where the parents not only got proper guidance but also discussed their problmes among themselves and brainstromed for solutions.

At the end of the training it was heartening to see the parents who were fighting out the challenges single handedly without any support, looking more confident and prepared to face the life ahead.
