Sensory toys are used to develop different visual skills of deafblind children like focusing, following, eye hand coordination, tracking, scanning, discrimination etc. Sensory toys are used to develop different visual skills of deafblind children like focusing, following, eye hand coordination, tracking, scanning, discrimination etc. Toys with audio inputs help in developing hearing and listening skills like attention to sound, localization of sound, identification and differentiation of sound, etc.

When 10 years old Alay was first referred to the deafblind programme in Sayla, Gujarat, the medical professionals had failed to detect his residual senses of vision and hearing. But playing with the sensory toys has stimulated his residual senses of vision and hearing. It has also helped in stimulating his tactile senses to understand and learn different textures through various sensory integration activities.

Earlier Alay hardly performed any activity on his own and was not even very expressive. But now Alay focuses his better eye to perform his day to day tasks. He has a better eye hand coordination now and responds to his family members and educators.
