Success Story

Deafblind children are not much exposed to the outside world as they face problems in terms of communication and mobility

Deafblind children are not much exposed to the outside world as they face problems in terms of communication and mobility. They are generally confined to the four corners of their house. And so they have very little idea about the world around them actually their world is limited only till their fingers can touch!

Sense International (India) arranged an outing for a group of deafblind children studying in the deafblind unit at Basti (UP). Touch and smell are the learning tools that a deafblind child uses to explore his/her surroundings and differentiate one thing from the other. The educators took them to a garden and made them feel and experience the different varities of flowers, lush green grass, cool breeze, flowing water and much more to ehance their understanding about their surroundings.
The children had lots of fun and enjoyed their outing to the fullest. The outing not only provided them the much needed entertainment but also made them aware of their surroundings. It was trully a learning experience clubbed with enjoyment for them.
