Success Story

In 45 villages of three service districts of TAPWA, many families live below poverty line. In 45 villages of three service districts of TAPWA, many families live below poverty line. Their economic conditions are very poor. Women were unorganized, mostly laborers who are paid lesser wages than men. Their socio-economic and cultural conditions were most awful. They do not have decision making power and were considered as subordinates to men.

We organized women into self-help groups in target villages.Awareness training facilitated the newly formed SHGs for handling and leading the SHG activities socially and economically and helped them to realize their rights as women and within the community. They were linked with banks for loan assistance to initiate various income generation activities after training.

Target women SHGs are made as Cooperative Federations for collective action. The said training led to reduction in women dependency to a greater extent in target villages. As the women are trained to involve themselves in advocacy for their rights to develop, gender equality is ensured in target villages. Target women are free from debts and money lenders because of training efforts.
