Success Story

Sabina aged 18, having lost her parents at an early age is now living with her maternal uncle in a slum near the LI centre.

Sabina aged 18, having lost her parents at an early age is now living with her maternal uncle in a slum near the LI centre. Her adoptive family considered her a burden and treated her in an indifferent and shabby manner. She was not even sent to a school. She started showing interest in our centre.

She began attending classes in the afternoon after finishing the household work and when other members were away. She passed Grade 10 through NIOS in 2010 and now wants to study for Grade 12. She has been training under one of the teachers at the centre and now she is assisting her in running the classes. After three months of training, she has started teaching independently in the classes held for adult/adolescent literacy for women.
Currently she is working as a trainee teacher at the center. Since she is earning now, she is accorded due respect in her family. She has also been counselled to pursue higher studies and LI will provide her the assistance required..
