Pankaj come from a musahar ghettos. Pankaj come from a musahar ghettos. He lost his father in drunken brawl and his mother is a landless labourer. They live a life much below the poverty line. He straw hut can be seen in the background of his photograph. Pankaj is now in class V of SSK. Promising in his studies he has done extremely well in both Maths and English. He will have a bright future when he passes out from SSK.

His widowed mother earns a dialy wage of Rs. 25 per day during the working seasons in the fields which about 6-8 months in a year. She can not afford two square meals a day. Her son now is in a fully free English medium school and shall make a quantum jump in life. This is journey from hopelessness to hope.

Pankaj now has all the facilities which a child needs to have and must have. He is attending classes in English, Maths, Science and Hindi conducted by highly qualified teachers. He has now become ambitious and wants to become a Doctor. He says he wants to ensure that his mother has a decent life and a life of self respect in her old age.
