Nagarajan happened to attend one of the camps conducted by Sankara Nethralaya at Chidambaram. Following a through eye examination and teleconsultation with an ophthalmologist at Sankara Nethralaya, he was advised to undergo a vitreo retinal surgery. Nagarajan was brought to the main hospital where a free-of-cost vitreo retinal surgery was performed on him
