Success Story

Laxmi (32)was widowed due to her husband s suicide. Laxmi (32)was widowed due to her husband?s suicide. She works as a construction labourer where she faces exploitation due to her poverty. Her meager income is not sufficient to nurture and educate her child and run her family. She is not able to repair her thatched roof house. She sees darkness in her future.

A VDC promoted SHG member met her and discussed an alternate livelihood. We supported Laxmi in purchasing 4 goats to support her family. She expected to be able to earn enough income through goat rearing.

Laxmi purchased 4 goats through our support. From the 8th month onwards she is able to sell one goat for around Rs. 1600. Now the goats are multiplying and she has a good asset. She is much better off than earlier; able to manage her family expenses, especially better growth and education of her child. She is also able to spend time with her daughter.
