Success Story

Kanta got married at the age of 17.Right from the day of marriage she was ill-treated by her in laws. Kanta got married at the age of 17.Right from the day of marriage she was ill-treated by her in laws. To get more dowry, her husband wanted to remarry. One evening her husband pushed her down from their two-storied house. She was paralyzed but got no support or care from her in laws. She lived with her mother in dire poverty without any medical attention.

Kanta approached MSSK. MSSK helped her in regaining her self-confidence. Workers held a meeting with her husband for negotiating a one-time maintenance but he refused. After continuous negotiation, her husband agreed to give 1.5 lac rupees. Most of the amount was spent on repaying loans. Much later during a sharing workshop organized by the MSSK a person donated Rs.50000 for her treatment.

Kanta still moves in a wheelchair. Her health condition has not improved drastically. However she is hopeful that one day she would be able to walk again. In these 3 years the MSSK workers have continuously interacted with her to support her in her battle
