Success Story

Sarita is 24 years old from Athivakkam village near Kanchipuram. Sarita is 24 years old from Athivakkam village near Kanchipuram. Her father is 50 and mother 46 doing wage labor. She lost one of her legs to polio. She has had training from ASSEFA (Association of sarva seva farms) on tailoring.

Her life would be better if she had a powered tailoring machine, which she would use to earn a living by stitching garments for local villagers and enhance financial situation of the family. She could not use a leg pedaled machine and she was not confident of using a hand pedaled one. We provided her with a powered sewing machine.

The day she got it was probably a dream come true for her. She started with stitching the first outfit for her mother. Slowly others in the village also started giving their clothes to her for tailoring Now she is earning around Rs 100 per day.
