Success Story

Villagers were using strong pesticides for their crops Villagers were using strong pesticides for their crop, specifically to commercial crops and vegetables to bring out quality at minimum time (growth period), so the productivity increased and quality was observed in the produce, but the villagers could not see the consequences, because the residue of the pesticides was observed in the human body and even in the breast milk. Moreover the pesticides are carcinogenic in nature.

Farmers were given awareness on the harms of using pesticides, stating that the situation is not only for the present situation, also for the future generation. Trainings were imparted on traditional practices, and other techniques to avoid usage of pesticides in the agriculture. The manuals, pheromone traps (for insects) and other low cost implements helped the farmers to avoid pesticides in their farms, thus they avoided pesticides and also free from financial burden (higher costs of pesticides). The manuals provides the information on making of low cost locally available materials (cow milk, neem products, cow dung)

Farmers slowly started to avoid the usage of pesticides and practicing traditional practices using locally available resources like neem products, cow milk products and other techniques to increase crop quality & quantity with low cost inputs. Farmers are now have reduced the overall cost on crops by Rs.6000, thus decreased financial burdens and even farmers are getting good quantity of produce, which is having better price comparatively with pesticide used produce. When we look at other side, the practice helps the environment also at large, especially future generation.
