Ms. Anamika Basu 40 years old unmarried female, comes from a very low socio-economic back ground. Ms. Anamika Basu 40 years old unmarried female, comes from a very low socio-economic back ground. She has been suffering from chronic schizophrenia and epilepsy since last 15 years. Her illness was characterized by suspiciousness, lack of interest in activities, violent and disruptive behaviors. Her eldest brother tried to treat her in many places like Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi but failed to control her illness since poor medication compliance. Father was no more and her mother was also suffering from schizophrenia. So, family was unable to manage her in the house. Again she was admitted in the Calcutta Pavlov Hospital and remained there around three years. There was no hope to come back to home since family was not willing to take her back.

She was brought to Paripurnata for Psycho-social Rehabilitation. She improved through psychosocial and recreational interventions, social skills training and group sessions helped her in acquiring good skills. Family was quite reluctant to take her back so she had to stay more than 2 years. She was quite conscious and determined about her property rights and strongly willing back to her house. Finally she returned to her home with the help of the police.

Now the family members are looking after her.
