Success Story

Pappu belongs to Musahars community. Pappu belongs to Musahars community. Musahars are landless labourers living in grinding poverty and sub-human conditions. 99.5% musahars are landless labourers and many among them are bonded labourers. They live as untouchables in ghettoes in the outskirts of the villages in Bihar and Jharkhand. Musahar children only know poverty and have an aimless existence deprived of hope and opportunity.

Pappu son of a landless labourer was selected during field visit to the musahar tolis. Pappu showed aptitude and keenness for serious studies. He was not going to government village school as classes were hardly held and the teacher showed no interest. Parents who were not regularly sending Pappu to village school readily agreed to send him to SSK convinced that the child will get quality education.

Pappu Kumar like others in the school is a shining example of the success and potential of this project. He has studied at SSK for two years. He has access to quality education and facilities including free boarding, lodging, medical, books, clothes etc. His academic performance is excellent and taking advantage of reservations he is likely to compete into reputed professional institutions of higher learning like IIT etc.
