Success Story

A hieratical system is adopted by the Dalits, who are already called untouchables in Indian society. The Arunthathiar community at the lowest rung of Dalit people, do scavenging work for municipalities and corporations. They lack awareness on how to maintain personal hygiene. They have single tools and often use their bare hands. They get very low wages and live under pathetic conditions.

We have formed 100 Self Help Groups for scavenging women. We have also conducted health awareness camp for them. We have conducted Child labor eradication campaigns. We have conducted Animal Husbandry Training camp to 30 dalit women.Causes, Effects and prevention of Chicken Gunya - 25 dalit women, T.B. Awareness Training - 25 Dalit women, HIV/AIDS Awareness Training - 25 dalit women

The women s lives have improved. They have better tools to work with. Their personal hygiene has improved. They are aware of their rights and can command a better wage and their living condition will improve.
