Success Story

Tarachand is a 35 year old man who is a native of village Kherakhurd. Tarachand is a 35 year old man who is a native of village Kherakhurd. He loved drinking,smoking and using gutka etc.Gradually he started having frequent chest pain. The doctor advised him to to leave all addictions but Tarachand did not pay heed to it.One day he developed severe breathlessness and was hospitalised in emergency and the doctor told him to mend his ways as his lungs had shrunk. At the same time he developed persisitent cough along with blood in sputum. Sputum AFB revealed that he had TB.

Since CSI was the nearest DOT center. Tarachand was referred here.He got counseling on drug adherence and nutrition counseling at the time of initialtion of therapy and was also informed about the precautions to be taken so that others in the family including the young children remain clean.

After counseling, regular health checkups and proper medication for 6 monthsTarachand has become a healthy person. He has regained his earlier fitness level and his TB has been cured. Simultaneously, coming into contact with our social worker has encouraged him to work as a motivator to other persons for the prevention of TB, HIV/AIDS, other STDs.
