The project will support in the contrcution of a quality education organisation for 1000 children of slums surrounding Gurgaon
The NGO, since 2001, is running an afternoon school the premises of a private school in Gurgaon. The children attending the school are all from the slums of DLF Harayana. They are from the lowest socio economic background and most of them are first generation learners. Its vision is to introduce these children to the educational system at a very young age. Its aim is to groom them for success through a rigorous curriculum and in a setting equal to those of the “best” schools in the nation; and ultimately to see these students compete successfully for slots in Indias most elite colleges and universities like IITs & IIMs. Therefore, the NGO now wants to have its own premises. The NGO is currently in process of constructing its own school building. The Student capacity will be 1000 students in the regular school programme covering Nursery to the XII standard. It would also be covering remedial education and NIOS(National Institute of Open Schooling) programmes for drop out youth in addition to the number of regular students. It will also work with the mothers of the children in a programme of education and empowerment.
