Success Story

Vivek (12) is an HIV/AIDS positive boy, studying in 7th grade. Vivek (12) is an HIV/AIDS positive boy, studying in 7thgrade. He is very poor; living in Namagiripatty Tamilnadu. 5 years back, he lost his parents due to AIDS. He is under the care of his aunt who has 2 children of her own. He has no means to schooling. His aunt cannot afford the travel fare to the health centre for his medical treatment.

We visited his home and provided counseling to him and his relatives. We negotiated with them for his accommodation, food, education and health care. We promised to provide him educational materials, uniforms, shoes, nutrition supplements and access to medical treatment regularly.

Vivek is going to school regularly like other students who don?t know that he is affected by HIV/AIDS. He is wearing shoes, carries a colorful bag with his books and attends school sincerely. He often asks why we are giving him special care. His health is normal due to referral ART care and nutritious food.
