Kasthuri (13) is a girl child forced to involve in artificial gem work due to poor income and debt bondage along with her widowed mother in Solanganallur village. As her mother hardly earns enough to feed her 3 children, she is unable to educate them.

VDC brought Kasthuri to our Child Labour School in Sengulipatty village. We conducted intensive special education classes for her and enrolled her in regular school after two years. In the mean time we provided counseling for her mother to send her child to school regularly. We provide her educational materials and uniforms to continue her education.

Now Kasthuri is studying in regular school along with other children and is free from child labour and debt bondage. She has resumed her studies, developing her academic skills, self confidence. We have reduced her parent?s burden for educational materials through donor support.
