Success Story

Women in village Ghorahi lived in measurable condition. Women in village Ghorahi lived in measurable condition .Consumption of locally made liquor was a costume in the village. Most of the families belonged to BPL. Hard earned money by the families was spent on the liquor by the male counterpart/their husband. Females had to manage all their expenditure by laboring hard in the fields of others. They got fewer wages due to their ignorance.

LCVK formed 2. women SHG consisting of 30 members in village Ghorahi and provided training on several issues along with legal Awareness. We organized a lawyer to come to village Ghorahi for the training. We introduced the different laws which were concerned to them for their social & economic empowerment and resolving the conflicts amicably using the law of the land.

SHG members organized themselves for the common cause under the leadership of Ms. Saro Devi to fight against the odds of their life. Competitiveness among the group members arose for their development. They found that large amount of their earnings is spent in consumption of locally made unauthorized liquor manufacturing unit in 2 houses of their village. These SHG members protested against the production of liquor in turn were abused .They unitedly marched to Roh P.S, Feeling the heat, the culprits fell on the feet of the members and agreed not to make liquor in future. Since 2 years no liquor is made in the village and SHG members leave amicably. They solve their disputes sitting together by themselves and getting the Govt. approved wages for their work.
