Success Story

Baby of Meghala, a pre-term baby with immature lungs was admitted on Day one of her life(2nd Nov 2010) in ICH, Government Children Hospital and required ventilator support. Baby of Meghala, a pre-term baby with immature lungs was admitted on Day one of her life(2nd Nov 2010) in ICH, Government Children Hospital and required ventilator support. As there are insufficient numbers of ventilators in ICH, we rented out a ventilator through a private company until the 7th of Nov 2010.

By renting out ventilators, life support is provided to the baby. In the absence of Ventilatory support, the mother or the attender has to do the work manually which is dangerous - adequate pressure may not be given and the baby could die. The bills raised by the Hiring Agency (Zigma) were paid by Ekam.

The child survived after the intervention and is still under supervision in the hospital.
