Success Story

Anita is the daughter of Anil Soren, who works as a wage labour to support his family. Anita is the daughter of Anil Soren, who works as a wage labour to support his family. She weighed only 8 kg at the age of 23 months, when she was first identified as malnourished much less as per age. She looked sick with pale skin and brown hair. Her parents were ignorant about her health condition. She was advised for medical check up but could not be done due to lack of proper medical care facility at village

NEEDS health worker started taking special care for Anita. She explained to the parents about the consequence of her poor health status and the impact of this on her overall development. They were not aware of this. Community volunteer in the village was given responsibility to monitor her growth every month. Anita was given supplementary feeding and her parents were counseled on how to prepare nutrition rich food from locally available ingredients.

Her parents & community volunteer were counseled on child care and nutritional diet. Supplementary food in the form of mixture of energy and protein rich ingredients like rice, pulse, nuts, is given to Anita. She has improved a lot and shifted to the grade. Her parents are taking care of her along with community volunteer has taken the responsibility of tracking her progress.
