Success Story

Most of the women members in Balur village of Siddapur Taluk were unorganized Most of the women members in Balur village of Siddapur Taluk were unorganized and they were not having liberty on their own earnings. They dont have purchasing power and waiting for approval of male members of the family for meager items. They did not having forum for sharing their feelings and information

We formed Pragati SHG in Balur village in 2007 and organized 15 women members under one SHG. At the initial stage all women members started monthly savings and we gave several trainings on SHG concept, credit management, social issues and income generation activities within one year

Now all 15 women members enjoy with unity and savings-credit activity. Now they have became empowered and involved in village development activities like Shramadana, planting activities and PRI activities. Few women members started small scale business with the help of SHG loan and providing good education to their children.
