Success Story

Kiran Devi is poor women from Mushar caste Kiran Devi is poor women from Mushar caste (Mahadalit - Schedule caste). She and her husband Bideshi Manjhi, reside in the Arwal District. She is pregnant. Her husband works in agriculture fields. He has to feed a family consisting of five members. They are unable to do so from his meager income. The village lacks health facilities and the women are ignorant on pre and post natal care

Infant & Mother mortality rate are high in the area and generally, women are anemic. SGVS provided Kiran the facilities for medical checkup, medicine, nutrition and facilities for institutional delivery.

It has increased her confidence and knowledge of safe motherhood. She is immunized; takes iron pills, tonics, and green vegetables and is checked and trained by Auxiliary Mid wife each month. She delivered healthy child in February 2009.
