Success Story

Maheswari is a very poor adolescent girl living in Duraisamypuram village. Maheswari is a very poor adolescent girl living in Duraisamypuram village. She had no idea about adolescent period- behavioral changes. She did not have a basic understanding of menstrual hygiene. Before our intervention, she did not use sanitary pads during the menstrual period. She had no idea about safer sex, HIV/AIDS prevention methods, anemia control, nutritious food, family welfare scheme etc. Before our intervention, she was also not aware about personality development and goal setting.

LAW went to Duraisamypuram and conducted the programme in January this year. We covered the topics on adolescent hood, sex and sexuality, HIV, anemia control and menstrual hygiene. On the second day we explained nutritious cooking, family welfare, positive behavior, self confidence, and family welfare and Govt. schemes.

Maheswari and the group of adolescent girls understood the importance of menstrual hygiene & behavior. Maheswari convinced her parents to purchase sanitary napkins in medical shop. She also influenced the neighborhood female members to use napkin. She also learnt menstrual hygiene & improved standard of living.
