Melghat is a tribal area with high mortality rate (>100 per 1000 live births). There are no doctors in most of the villages. Mansudhavadi is such a village with expert obstetric and pediatric care 170 km & 28 km away respectively. Most of the deliveries are home deliveries due to poor socio-economic conditions with high newborn deaths. Mrs. Munni Khantilal Bhilavekar Is very poor from village Jutpani; She came to Mansudhavadi village for delivery. She did not go to hospital for delivery due to socioeconomic conditions. As there was no doctor and it was home delivery, it was conducted by traditional birth attendant and MAHAN’s village health workers. Munni delivered one male baby with no breathing.
