Success Story

Ms. Namita Saha, 46 years old, married woman having two sons & a daughter, was suffering from mental illness characterized by frequent anger out burst, assaultive behavior, aimless wandering tendency etc. Ms. Namita Saha, 46 years old, married woman having two sons & a daughter, was suffering from mental illness characterized by frequent anger out burst, assaultive behavior, aimless wandering tendency etc. Her family tried to treat her in many places but there was no significant improvement. So, her husband got remarried to take care of the house hold works. As a result there were frequent quarrels in the family and they have no idea how to deal with it. Lastly she was admitted to the Calcutta Pavlov Hospital and remains there around three years. There was no hope for her to come back to home since family was not willing to take her back.

She was then brought to Paripurnata Half Way Home for Psycho-social Rehabilitation. During 9 months stay in Paripurnata her all problem behaviors were improved through various kind of psychosocial and recreational interventions to places like the Botanical Garden, Millennium Park, Nico Park in and around Kolkata , social skills training and group sessions helped her in acquiring good skills which is necessary for family living. Psycho-education and family interventions has helped family to deal efficiently with the problem.

When she was sent back to her home and started taking part in day to day work, every one in the family was happy and satisfied. Gradually she has taken the entire responsibility of her family as expected from her. Now her children & the husband are maintaining good inter personal relationship and living happily.
